Mission Statement

Vision
A healthy, life-sustaining planet, where humans respect the dignity and interdependence of all living beings.
Mission
To support people stewarding abundant ecosystems and a stable climate, while building resilient, equitable communities.

Description

In 2019, Sierra Club BC celebrates fifty years of bringing British Columbians together to protect the lands, waters and wild species we all depend on.
Strategic Goals
Within the context of respecting Indigenous jurisdiction, we will:
1. Support and enable leadership for climate action and resilience, with an emphasis on communities that are most impacted by the ecological crisis.
2. Protect ecosystems and nurture their abundance to ensure a viable future for all.

Program Details

Sierra Club BC's strength has always been in working together.
We know that forests are one of our greatest allies against climate change. We partner with communities across the province to find solutions that provide alternative models for our forests that are regenerative and respect the dignity of all beings.
We helped pioneer the Pull Together Campaigns with our partner RAVEN (Respecting Aboriginal Values and Environmental Needs). These campaigns have raised over $1,000,000 for Indigenous legal challenges to fossil fuel expansion.
Our grassroots outreach identifies communities of people who are directly impacted by climate change and works to elevate those stories for positive change.
Sierra Club BC's free education program is celebrating 20 years of nature education for children. We work to get kids outside and connected to the natural world.
