Mission Statement

Description

To engage people in caring for the 52 mile long San Diego River and to work toward the creation of the San Diego River Park through volunteerism, action, advocacy, education and projects.

Program Details

We raise funds to buy and conserve threatened open space for wildlife, recreation, scenic and watershed values.
We engage kids in programs to love and learn about nature.
We cleanup trash from the San Diego River. Our volunteer inspired program has removed more than 2 million pounds from our historic coastal river. Yes, preventing that trash from reaching the ocean and our beaches, but also removing it from river habitat and the communities the River runs through. We are working toward a Trash- Free River.
We work toward the completion of the regional 52 mile long San Diego River Park and trail system.
We love being outdoors and provide a means for others to connect with nature through a range of meaningful community science and service projects.
We think kids should have access to nature and be given a chance to learn about it from passionate, knowledgable adults. There is a great need in urban San Diego for these programs, and we are working to build a River Education and Stewardship right in the City, in the community of Mission Valley. We are working to start site preparation in the Fall of 2019 and we will continue fundraising to make this dream come true.
