Our strategic plan identifies four core pillars of work:
1) Protecting kiwi in situ -
Kiwi are under attack in the ngahere by introduced mammalian predators. They need safe places to live. We provide guidance and support for groups working to eradicate predators.
2) Partnerships with Māori to protect kiwi and te Taiao
Recognising the importance of our indigenous people (Māori) we strive to work side by side with whānau, hapū, iwi to protect kiwi, restore the ngahere and respect mana whenua as kaitiaki.
3) Build "founder populations" within kōhanga sites using ONE ™
A tangible, measurable time-bound strategy, using proven methodology that will amplify the benefits of work done by those creating safe kiwi habitat. Implementation of this program of work will accelerate kiwi numbers, achieving growth in 5-10 years that would require 50+ years without the use of kōhanga sites.
4) Being the main portal for kiwi information and advocacy
