As an accredited land trust, the Elkhorn Slough Foundation plays a critical role in protecting one of the largest estuaries in California. Currently, Elkhorn Slough is home to the largest concentration of the threatened Southern sea otters, as well as critical habitat for more than 300 bird species, endangered amphibians, plants, and other wildlife. Our conservation and restoration work helps to provide a cleaner, safer environment for all to enjoy and explore the Elkhorn Slough.
The Foundation protects 4,000 acres of rare habitat from wetlands to oak woodlands. Our youth outreach programs strives to inspire the next generation of conservations to ensure our mission to conserve and restore the Elkhorn Slough and its watershed is continued long into the future.
