Big Reuse fights climate change through zero waste initiatives.


Over 4 years Big Reuse have diverted 5 million lbs of reusable material, composted over 4.5 million lbs of food scraps and given awy the compost to communities across NYC, and our outreach team has talked to over 250,000 residents about composting.

Program Details

Over the past 4 years since our launch, Big Reuse has diverted over 11 million lbs of reusable material, compostable food waste, Parks leaves and wood chips from the landfill through our Compost Project in partnership with DSNY, employed 40 staff in green living wage jobs, provided training to over 60 green jobs interns, greened over 650 community sites with compost and mulch, and provided direct face to face outreach as part of Make Compost Not Trash to over 250,000 New Yorkers on participation in the City's composting programs.
