Mission Statement

The Australian Youth Climate Coalition is Australia’s largest youth-run organisation, our mission is to build a movement of young people leading solutions to the climate crisis.
Young people have the most to lose from global warming, but we also have a lot to gain. Climate change is our best opportunity to create a world that works for everyone, not just a few. We can power our lives with the wind and sun, and ensure access to clean energy and job opportunities for all.
We believe that the only way to solve the climate crisis is through a social movement - a groundswell of support and momentum that is powerful enough to inspire the change we need and hold decision makers to account.

Program Details

In 2019 our priorities include:
  • Make this election ‘The Climate Election’ ensuring young people are enrolled to vote and that climate change is the number one issue, mobilising our movement in two key electorates (Herbert, Watson) and at key election events across the country.
  • Stop Adani once and for all - shifting the politics in the lead up to the election to secure a commitment to stopping this dangerous coal mine from going ahead.
  • Ban fracking - support the Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network to empower communities on the frontline to pressure Origin to back away from the project.
  • Support the Schools Strike 4 Climate - with leadership training and major logistics support for key events.
  • Continue to build the capacity and power of the youth climate movement, growing our network to 2000 volunteers, further upgrading our systems to allow for the rapid growth of our movement.
