Mission Statement

The mission of the Alliance for the Great Lakes is “to conserve and restore the world's largest freshwater resource using policy, education, and local efforts, ensuring a healthy Great Lakes and clean water for generations of people and wildlife.”

Description

The Alliance for the Great Lakes is a regional leader dedicated 100% to the health and vitality of all five Great Lakes. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the Alliance also has staff in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Cleveland, Ohio; Detroit, Michigan; and Buffalo, New York; who work alongside a constituency of more than 50,000 active volunteers, advocates, and donors across the region for Great Lakes protection and restoration.

Program Details

Through water advocacy work spanning three campaign areas of Clean Water for People, Agriculture & Water, and Invasive Species Prevention, the Alliance works to ensure needed policy changes to protect and restore the Great Lakes move forward and that Great Lakes communities commit to water infrastructure investment. Through communications and volunteer programs, the Alliance aims to ensure residents are educated and take action on Great Lakes issues.
