Since living in Vermont, I have always followed 1% for the Planet. I have always wanted to find a way to give back and do more. Now, a few more years into working and feeling more financially stable, I want to commit consistently on a yearly basis, and really make more of an effort to give back more. I probably started following the program back in 2006-2007 when I was a freshman at St. Michael's College in Colchester, VT and I have been working in the Outdoor Industry for 10+ years. While I have moved across the country, my passion and love for the environment and natural connections has only grown stronger. When I look for jobs, I only look at companies that have a social mission, give back and actually care about the world around them. Working in the outdoor industry is great, because at the end of the day we promote and sell fun adventures and memories. But it is also realizing your job, and these outdoor businesses can not exist without a planet, a healthy environment, and so many other interconnected items. And the timing feels right to set this in motion now.
